The Yoga Place Online

Unknown-2

I have decided to try to get a blog out daily, even a short one, during this strange time. We want you to know that we are striving to make sure that yoga is present for you and continues to be a tool you can use to brighten your day and give you some peace of mind during a time of uncertainty and instability. Having something to read is great, but even better is the possibility of taking an actual class online with one of our amazing teachers!

Yes! The Yoga Place now has classes LIVE and online for you to participate in. This week they will be free through Sunday as we work out the bumps and bugs. But, stay connected and up-to-date on the daily changes and announcements via the website, email, FB, and Instagram. Current schedule for these special classes can be found HERE.

As we embark on this new experiment with live classes online, there are some things to remember. I have now taken and taught a full class online and I can definitely say it is a different experience than being in an actual class. However, I think that for Iyengar Yoga teachers and students in particular, our methodology already is quite conducive to the format needed online. The point of being LIVE is to be able to see you in real time and give feedback just as normal class. And, we do not want you to have to crane your neck to see what we are doing, so the “come and watch” for a demonstration before we get into teaching is a must when connected through a screen. What a great time for you to begin to “see yourself” when the teacher can’t see you as clearly as in the same room.

Of course space and props can be an issue when trying to get connected virtually, but we are also working to bring you some pointers for that too! I had fun making this “home prop” video that you can now see on our YouTube channel. We hope to start filling it with other short videos to help support your practice at home during this time and beyond.

I just want to say that for me, this past week has filled me with love and gratitude for our yoga community right here in LaCrosse, but also around the world! It is a blessing and a gift to be able to connect with people in different ways than we are used to. It has also been a perfect time to recommit to things I have let slide for myself in my usual “day-to-day” habits. I feel energized and even more thankful for this practice of yoga that I know gives me a strong foundation and focus when all else swirls around. Stay safe, stay grounded, and stay sane with yoga!!!!

Hope to see you soon LIVE and online!
